It’s time to take back the music. I grew up with it, and most good things in my life are entangled with it. The most important things that I learned about the world and about myself were illuminated through it. Yet gradually, over the last quarter-century, I shoved an important part of it aside.
I became a professional musician, then someone who hires and manages other professional musicians. There were bills to pay, children to raise, and career decisions to consider. And I consider myself lucky that I could do all of that and still live a life in music. But as a consequence, the part of the music that spoke to me personally went into hibernation.
So, here in my own Vienna, in my own time, I will try to find the music I lost. It’s neither world-class nor competitive, it will never be profitable, and it’s of little consequence to anyone but me. I document it so that anyone who reads along will not hesitate to embark on an amateur artistic journey of their own.
